Bombay

This time when I was India, I took my nephew to show the parts of Bombay that he has either never been to or rarely seen. We spent almost whole day together going to Gateway of India, Price of Wales Museum etc. These are some of the pictures that we took. Dada gave us a ride going back so some of the pictures are taken from car.

This is Gateway of India. Build for welcoming King George V when he visited India. I have spent many late night hours  here with my friends sitting on the steps that take you to water.

Hotel Tajmahal. Probably one of the first real 5 star hotel in India. When I was growing up, I used to hear stories of how even cup of tea is very expensive here. Still have not had that cup of tea yet here 🙂

Dome of Prince of Wales museum. This building itself is as beautiful as some of the artifacts in this building.

I don’t know the name of this church but the flyover that you see is the longest flyover in Bombay.

Still see bulls pulling  cart full of oil.

One way traffic.

Thane at night

Cricket

Yesterday, I played Cricket after almost 6 years. I have played once but that was for like 30 minutes which does not really count. This time I played for almost 3 hours. I was feeling good on Friday apart from the fact that my ring finger was swollen while catching a ball . It was on today trouble started. It was hurting like hell. I could not move my legs :). I need to play more. I have been out of touch. Hopefully, I will play more in whatever summer is left.

Late Birthday Gifts

I just got late birthday gifts from my team. They gave me 2 DVDs (Gettysburg and Glory) and 1 Book (Grant and Lee). I cant wait to go home and read the book and watch movies. These guys have been too nice and have been making my life easier at work.

Mistaken Identity

I went to get emission test done for my car couple of days ago and it failed. So I had to go and get it repaired. I went to Overlake Goodyear since that was one of the recommended places that was closes to my office. I dropped the car in the morning and went there to pick it up. I was told that it would probably cost me at around 300$. But when I went there the guy at the counter had 3 page long print out for me and he went over everything that was wrong with car. Basically he was saying, my car was not looked after properly and it would cost me around 5000$ to fix it. I was shocked since i have not missed a single servicing appointment for my car and it could only mean servicing center has not done anything that they have claimed over the years. But then it clicked me looking at the key that he gave me and i realized it was not my car. What a relief!!! 🙂

They I had to wait another 30 minutes where the guy undid all the transactions. I don’t understand why it would take single swipe of the card to charge the money but would take 30 minutes of rigorous typing and clicking to undo the charge. 🙂 Anyway the owner of the other car showed up and guy at the counter explained to him the mix up. Then he turns around and says to me (in front of the owner) “You must have thought you got the really bad car”.
